The Cody Firearms Museum was dedicated in 1991 and has become the permanent home to many firearms, artwork and more. Almost every firearm manufacturer in the world is represented. There are over six thousand objects within the firearms collections alone. Enough to trace the development from the earliest models to the modern forms we enjoy today.

Not Just Firearms

There’s an art section as well within the Robert W. Woodruff Embellished Gallery, but artwork is liberally used throughout to enliven the exhibits.

  • A Springfield Armory Trapdoor that was Bill Cody’s favorite rifle. He broke the stock of the gun by clubbing an elk.
  • The Winchester Collection, an extensive collection moved here in 1976

  • A Winchester Model 1866 Lever Action Deluxe Sporting Rifle, engraved with Germanic hunting scenes by Conrad Ulrich
  • Variations of sporting rifles and shotguns from all over the world
  • Engraved works of art like the original oak woodwork from the Winchester factory offices in New Haven, Connecticut
  • Original works by famous artists such as N.C. Wyeth and Phillip R. Goodwin
  • Wall calendars and advertisements from firearm manufacturers
  • North American game mounts in the Boone & Crockett Lodge

A service greatly appreciated by firearm collectors is the Cody Firearms Museum Records Service. You can find information about individual firearms, and depending on your membership level with Cody Firearms Museum, you could even take advantage of this service for free. Non-members will pay a fee.
