The drive from Cody to the East Entrance of Yellowstone Park has been called one of the most scenic 50 miles in the U.S. This stretch of scenic highway has long been famous for its skyline of rugged rock formations, wildlife and the winding North Fork of the Shoshone River.

The East Yellowstone Valley historic lodges and guest ranches offer full service accommodations as well as a host of exciting recreational activities.

The gateway to Yellowstone Park, the valley's easy access to Yellowstone, enables the visitor to enjoy perhaps the most magical season of all in Yellowstone. In winter, the park is transformed into a snowscape of other-world beauty. Steam billows from geyser basins to drift in eerie clouds through the frosty air, wreathing nearby trees with ice and turning even ordinary shrubs into ghostly sculptures.

Skis or snowmobiles are a great way to see the winter splendor of Yellowstone Park. The highway is kept open to the East Entrance of the park virtually all winter. Special snowcoach trips into the park are also available from the East Entrance for those wanting a little more comfort while still seeing the wondrous thermal features and varied animal life.
