Cody's economic base is tourism, so it is understandable that hospitality is high on the list of amenities including hotels, motels, restaurants and unique shops. When planning your vacation to Cody, the key question is what to bring. To figure that out, start with the time of year that you intend to visit.
Bear in mind that the weather in this area of Wyoming is very variable. Temperatures can change drastically even in a single day. Winters can see temperatures that average around 10 degrees F and summers can see temperatures that approach 100 degrees F. There can be sudden and drastic shifts in weather conditions, so when planning what to bring, you should make sure that the clothes you pack could be layered – even during the summer months.
If you are traveling here in the summer, don't forget sturdy/comfortable hiking boots or shoes, insect repellent, sunscreen, rain gear, sunglasses and a hat. In the winter, warm boots, gloves, a hat and a coat should be brought along. Regardless of the season or the activities on your agenda, don't forget your cowboy hat and boots!
