Annually, the first weekend of August, Cody plays host to a hot air balloon festival. Balloonists from across the country head to Cody to fly in one of the most scenic areas on earth. An evening balloon glow kicks off the event, and balloons take off early each morning from Cody's Mentock Park.

Details: The Wild West Balloon Festival offers the opportunity to glide over the scenic areas just East of Yellowstone National Park in the tranquil setting of a wicker basket suspended by a colorful hot-air balloon. If you would prefer to spectate you can witness the opening balloon glow as the Wyoming sky becomes a patchwork of colors as hundred of balloons are fed with giant flames before drifting into the night sky.
