You'll rarely find yourself bored or without anything to do in downtown Casper,
Wyoming. Art galleries, historic tours, live music, theatres, symphony
performances, and sculpture lining downtown streets, may seem like enough to
entertain you in the evenings. But Casper is also home to over ten museums like
the National Historic Trails Center, a bowling alley, paint ball, miniature golf
courses, roller skating rinks, and a rock climbing gym. If you're interested in
viewing some quality barrel racing and bull riding, a visit to the rodeo is
imperative.
Hiking, kayaking, hunting, skiing, and horseback riding are just a few of the
outdoor activities within and surrounding Casper, WY. The North Platte River
runs right through town providing kayakers, rafters, and anglers with crystal
clear water and exciting rapids. The White Water Park offers five structures
that were built to challenge kayakers and inner tubers, and entertain rafters
and float trips. The Platte River Parkway, which runs directly next to the
Platte River in Casper, is a place where hikers and bikers can enjoy 11 miles of
paved trail. The Audubon Center, at the base of Casper Mountain, and Muddy
Mountain have extensive trail systems for hiking and backpacking. The Alcova
Reservoir may be the place for you if boating, sailing, jet skiing, or water
skiing suits your fancy. Many visit Casper solely to study birding in the area.
There are three bird refuges in Casper where you can view bald and golden
eagles, as well as over 200 other species. In the winter Casper Mountain is a
popular spot for downhill and cross-country skiers. You can dog sled and
snowmobile just minutes from town as well.
There are tours and guiding services for pretty much any activity you choose in
Casper. Hunting guides will take you to the best spots for hunting pronghorn
antelope, mule deer, and bull moose. Fishing guides will help you scout holes
where brown and rainbow trout like to hide. Make sure to take a horse back or
covered wagon tour of the trails and surrounding historic area if time permits.
Casper sits in central eastern Wyoming. Car rental companies and taxi services
make getting around the city feasible. The Natrona County International Airport
is also located in Casper, Wyoming and offers frequent flights to major cities.
If you are traveling to Cody, Wyoming from Casper the most direct route follows
US 20 to WY 120.
