The town is only about 80 miles from Yellowstone National Park, and minutes away from wonderful sights in the Washakie Wilderness and the Shoshone National Forest. Cody itself is a small and friendly Old West community where you’ll feel very welcomed.
Getting around is easy. Besides taxi and shuttle services, there is also the COLT bus service that runs from the 1st of June through the 12th of September.
And with the number of vacation homes, condos and cabins available in and around town, you will find whatever you need to make your extended vacation the best possible.
When to Rent
Renting a long-term rental in or around Cody, Wyoming is perfect at any time of year. In the summer you have hundreds of miles of trails for hiking, biking, backpacking or horseback riding. You can fish or boat in any number of rivers, streams or lakes. And of course, national parks and forests are a short drive away.
Wintertime is the season for snowmobiling, cross-country skiing and even dog sled rides. However, you might find some bargain rentals if you obtain a vacation rental at the end of September, just when the summer tourists are returning home.
Average Rental Rates
Rental prices will vary greatly on the vacation long-term rentals available, and you’ll need to shop around. Much depends on what you are looking for.
In and around Cody, you’ll find condos, cabins and small to large vacation homes, sleeping anywhere from 4 to 10 people. They will be next to rivers or deep in the forest or close to town. The choice is yours.
Three-bedrooms homes (sleeping 8 to 10) can range anywhere from $4800 to $8400 a month. A luxurious cabin with all amenities on a guest ranch can cost from $5200 all the way to $38,000 a month. For a small studio one-bedroom, you may find something ranging from about $875 to $1500 a month. And of course, you can find everything in between.
