Coyotes

The coyote is a carnivorous mammal belonging to the dog family with nineteen different subspecies who, although similar, all differ slightly in size and color.

Coyotes are a carnivorous mammal belonging to the dog family, characterized by a narrow nose and ears longer than those of a wolf. There are nineteen different subspecies all differing slightly in size and color although they are usually gray. Coyotes are well known for their distinctive howl, which is their main method of communication.

Coyotes' diet is extremely diverse; they will eat whatever is available to them and have even been known to eat domestic animals.

Best Place for Viewing

Coyotes initially inhabited open country and grasslands in the southwestern United States and Mexico. However the coyotes' geographic range has expanded and they can be found in varying habitats in Central America, Northern Alaska and throughout the US and most of Canada.
